What is a case erector?

A case erector (i.e., carton erector) is a machine that automatically takes flat corrugated blanks, opens them into rectangular boxes, squares up the bottom flaps, and seals them with either glue or tape. Our automatic case erector operates at a speed of 2.5 seconds per carton (1,500 cartons per hour) and can be changed over from one size to another in less than five minutes.

How does an automatic packing machine operate?

An automatic packing machine works in four steps: 1) Feed parts oriented via a vibratory bowl or multi-head weigher; 2) Create the bag out of the film creating a tube; 3) The product is dropped into the tube; 4) Once the product is in the tube, the heat seal jaws close and seal and cut the tube. Our hardware packing machine operates at 20 to 40 bags per minute with puncture-resistant film.

Can the case erector handle various box sizes?

Yes. Our case erector has the ability to handle regular slotted containers (RSC), half-slotted containers (HSC), and the full overlap container (FOL). There is less than five minutes of change-over time to change between boxes of different sizes by simply using hand wheels and HMI recipe storage.

Can you provide complete packaging line integration?

Yes. We can integrate the whole production line of case erectors, conveyors, packing machines, weighing systems, and sealers into a complete packaging line. Please contact us with your requirements related to your product and output for a custom line design.

What is the difference between a case erector and a case packer?

The difference between a case erector and a case packer is that a case erector erects a flat blank into an empty box and a case packer fills that empty box with product. In a typical production line, the erector feeds to the packer, then ultimately feeds into a sealer.

How to choose between a case erector, packing machine, and weighing machine?

The best way to determine what equipment suits the application is as follows: Case Erector – used to manufacture empty containers which are then filled with individual bags; Packing Machine – used to fill empty bags with a specific amount of product (e.g., sugar or rice); and Case Packer – used to place the bags into completed boxes. In many production lines, all three types of machines are needed. Start with a Packing Machine if bagging alone is required and add a Case Erector and Sealer if boxing bags is also necessary.
