The breaker will trip nearly instantaneously when the current flowing exceeds approximately 5-10 times its rated capacity. A thermal trip is used to protect against overload conditions. The breaker will trip after several seconds to several minutes of continuous overload at approximately 1.13-1.45 times rated capacity.
